Roger Nilsson

Any information about you, who are you?

Roger Nilsson age 38.

Born in Sweden but lives in Norway for 7 years now.

And im getting married this year to Julia Gillros.

How and when did you get interested in crossfit?

I started with CrossFit 2016.

I was in a accident 2008 were I crushed my leg and shoulder and I was really far down!

And I had to start training for my own survival. 193cm and 58kg.

I always loved competitions and i was looking for a new sport were I could compete again. I got a challenge on instagram to compete on Fitnessfestivalen Throwdown team of 2.

I had 2veek to learn “CrossFit”. After that I have been doing CrossFit and been competing on 12 different comps. And I will nerver stop!

What is your sporting path?

Jujitsu, Boxing, Thai boxing, fotball and now CrossFit.

What does the community mean to you?

The community of CrossFit is my safe place in live! I have traveled all over the world and were ever I go I can always go in to a box and feel like home!

Would you tell us about the idea, the format and the reasons that led you to create it?

I love competitions and I have always worked with events so I hade to try to make a CF competition.

And I did a Box competition with 80 athletes.

Next year 180 athletes and now it’s time to step up the game. And make a unique competition in the Norwegian mountains on a Ski Resort! And I think CF needs more competitions outside the Box in a Arena.

If we want to make our sport to grow we need to make bigger and better completions. And when I visit the Hotell on a Strong Man event 2016 I sad I want to make a competition here some day.

It’s a amazing place! The nature and the main arena is amazing.

Organizing an event is not a simple thing, how do you manage to put together all the pieces of the puzzle?

I’m an event person. I love the road from an idé on a napkin to the day after! The puzzle is my passion.

Finding the right partners and personas to make it happen is so important. I have now found my partners and crew to make anything in all sizes. And to give Scandinavia an unique competition like Norwegian Throwdown is a dream come true.

What was the thing you liked best, and the least, the previous edition?

Like every competition there are same moments you never forget. 2018 there was a guy in Team Beginner that never done a pull up because of overweight. And together with the athletes and crowd he did 8!!! The best 3min of my life! To se the community love to this guy!

The wors was that we ended up almost 3h late on the final day. And I have worked many many hours to make sure it never happens again.

Can you anticipate any news about this edition?

The new location is the big news! To bring the community up to the amazing Norwegian Mountains going to be something I look forward to.

Your favorites for the final victory

We will see.

What are your plans for the future?

We have big plans and you will soon now.
